Red Haired Mermaids!

It happened to me again, I think I found something really good at Value Village, which probably should have been in the showcase.  When I got to the cash, the cashier said - "those are collectibles" - that would be why I picked them up!  I'm following the advice of  Thrifter Sister Erica -  she buys anything with Japan on it, so I am too - that's if it's cute, well, this was way too cute....

They're Lefton Mermaids - I'm partial to anything with red hair because I did give birth to a red head!  The only marking was Japan and 3107 - I can see where the Lefton sticker was - what do you think?  There's no a chip on them, they're not faded - they're the sweetest.  I paid $5.99.

I researched them online, there are plenty of images, many that have been sold on Ebay and Etsy and a few listings now for buy it now - ranging from $150 and up!    That was definitely the steal of the week!!

This old reader looks like it was never used - it's from 1966 - I only know the Dick and Jane readers, I've never seen this one before.  Every chapter is about David...

This isn't an old book - it's the story of Anne before she came to Green Gables.  PEI is the land of Anne, my home, so I had to get it and see just how Anne really did end up with Matthew and Marilla.

I found three Vera's in the last couple of weeks - it's funny, for a while I don't find any wing tip or split tip, whichever you want to call then and now that's all I've found lately - each one was $1 - that's only my second solid colour Vera - I would never really know except it still has the tag.

I had mail this week from Astrid - her blog is Fab and Thirty-Something, check out her blog and maybe start following her - she finds some great vintage things  and in her travels she picked this Vera up for me - I love it - thanks, so much.  And, look at the cute card she sent - it's sweet!   I'm going to SMASH it!

This week is my two year blogiversary - check out the prize here - leave a comment on that post or on my  Facebook page - you just might win!!

Today I'm linking up with Junkin JoeVintage Thingie Thursday and Thrifty Things Friday.

  3. Buying up the Made in Japan if it's cute has definitely worked for me! Glad to see you are following my lead:-)

Those Lefton mermaid girls are amazing. The red hair is perfect for you! They were meant to be. Is this the same Value Village that you found the Pink Pyrex at? If so, I'm on the next plane out!

  10. Wow! What a great find! But I must say, the cashiers at the thirfts you shop at are quite..um rude?! Not the first time someones commented on a purchase youve made, saying it should be priced higher. The cashiers at my VV are mostly all students, who really dont pay any attention to what people are buying. Enough of my rant. Awesome awesome find! You did great!

  14. I think Value Village is the same company as Savers. My pet peeve wth Savers is they put all the small knick knacks together in bags and hang them on the wall...where they get jostled together, dropped and either chipped or broken. If yours were in bags...boy were you lucky! Cute, cute cute!

  21. I'm lovin' those little mermaids. What a great find. Will you sell or keep? Either way, they should bring you enjoyment, either to see them all the time or to make (hopefully) a little bundle on them!
