Things must definitely be picking up at the thrift stores, I had something to share last week and I do again this week! It's a miracle!!
Even though I found a few things, the things I am looking for are few and far between. I really do have enough so I should't complain!!
I hope there are more Santa mugs out - I walked by this one first but went back and picked it up - it's marked Ron Gordon Designs Inc. 1983 - I've seen another one since that had some candy cane striping on the handle, so I wonder if this one could be the same.
It always pays to look closely at those junk bags, if you have the patience!! It's not very often you see a knee hugger in one of those bags, I already have the rest of the bag ready to be donated back, I'm only out a $1 and I got a knee hugger!!

I think it's going to be a Vera drought over the winter, it seems that this year most of the thrifts have only winter scarves for sale - now, that's just not right!! The one on the left if the first one I've found in ages, or so it seems! My blogging friend Sir Thrift a Lot sent me the other one - thanks so much for picking that up for me!!!
I don't usually buy Fire King and I really haven't been buying any dishes much at all, but I saw this utility dish in the Wheat pattern at Value Village, I wanted it and I bought it. That makes two pieces of Wheat for me, I have the loaf pan which I use often! I only have one Pyrex flamingo green dish that size and sometimes you jut need two, especially around this time of the year! It's in perfect shape - there was an address label on it and also the owners initials on masking tape, stuck on the bottom. I think this dish was probably taken to a few church functions, it's kind of sad to see something like that, why couldn't they take the label off?
Right beside it was sitting this little Pyrex individual casserole, in lime green, now I have the green and flamingo!
I'm happy to find anything nice this time of the year!!
Really, I shouldn't have bought any of these things but I did - what could I do, I don't have a Daisy, it's just so bright and cheery, I needed it!! It's the 442 size.
If that wasn't bad enough, I took this 402 too - I'm not sure if I'm keeping this one. It must have been the colours I was attracted to that day, what is wrong with me??? I don't need any more plain bowls like this!!
I didn't buy both of these fridgies, I just put them together for the picture - the white fridgie on the right is a Federal one, it's quite a different shape from the Pyrex one. I've been looking on Pinterest and Flickr for an opal Federal fridgie, I haven't found one yet - have you ever seen one?

Another weekend gone, another Saturday of many yard sales, the post where everyone puts their ad was full, I picked three, I just can't be bothered to go around to all those sales, it's just not worth it for me, I think I picked the right ones because I purchased at all three.
The first one was advertised as an estate sale, still not an estate sale like so many of you are used to but for me, it was fine, nothing was priced, just give whatever, they just wanted to get rid of the stuff, great!!
I finally found some Gurley candles - finally!! I know the angel is missing an eye - I'll fix her up!! I was so happy to find these, I thought of Vintage Sister Erica right away, I knew she would be so happy that I finally came upon some of these candles!!! And, she was, because I posted them on Instagram
This lady must have loved Christmas candles, there was a table full - I bought this little box of miniatures - all never used and only one missing, made in Japan.
I already have one of these Santa's and the little girl, but these are in much better shape.
I bought these for display - but you know, the French Fry cutter is a whole lot sturdier than the one we have! Aren't the graphics great?

I saw one, I saw two, then the third - I grabbed them all - little Federal bowls that match my mixing bowls I found last year at a yard sale.
I brought something home for the game room too..
At the next sale, I bought this lone Christmas mug, it was an older lady and her son, the son says 25 cents, oh, no, the lady says, that's Christmas, it's more, $1 - I laughed , I asked if there was a set, she said there were two, but I guess only made it - it's beat up but that doesn't matter in the least to me.
I would have stayed longer at this last sale but the bugs were so bad and everything that I was interested in was in boxes under the tables, but Ifound something before the bugs carried me away.. I don't really know why I bought this, but I did - I paid $1 for everything I took home.
This is the neatest old book, copyright 1952, I'm going to read this - good for a laugh - women back in the 50's had so much work to do - care of underwear - wash underwear after each wearing, mend your underwear when the first split appears, when underwear fades, dip it in a dye of the original color! Did you know the color white is bad after forty? Oh, this is going to be fun!!
In the afternoon, I moved on to the thrifts, only luck at one - I paid $1 for all this stuff... my thrifting trip was worthwhile, I found a Vera!!
I was carrying around this thermos , a guy who I believe to be a dealer, stopped me and said the thermos had a crack in the lid, I said it didn't matter, I was buying it for display!!
These aren't old and they were unopened, I thought they were just regular playing cards, I thought the diner was cute, I opened them this morning, they're all different - love them! Perfect for SMASHing!!
I paid less than $10 for everything I bought on Saturday! I like it!!
Yesterday we went to get flowers, the flea market that had the large fruit pail that I posted a few weeks ago was on the way, I've been thinking about it ever since so many people told me that I should get it, it was priced at $25. The more I thought about it the more I knew I had to have it. It was still there yesterday, I offered $15, nothing doing, which I figured, but I got it for $20 - not bad for this huge old pail!
And to finish off the day, I bought these swizzle sticks for $2.
I know I was lucky on Saturday, that doesn't happen very often around here!!
The weather here hasn't been great all week and it's still pretty cool for outdoor yard sales, but today there was a church sale which I went to and also a sale inside of a house, which to many could be classed an an estate sale. I bought nothing there, first off we were told to take off our shoes, that is pretty hard to police, I think. She says everything in the kitchen is for sale and a couple of other rooms, so I found a bunch of old cookbooks, she says those aren't for sale, well, why say everything is for sale if it's not! I left, I didn't buy anything!!
The church sale wasn't as good as other years but I managed to get a few things, plus some magazines and a book for SMASHing. I spotted a box of wrapping paper, a lot of it will be redonated, along with the bows - do you like looking at vintage wrapping paper? Take a look at some of these neat ones, don't worry, I'm not showing every sheet I brought home. The patterns are just too cute!!
This one is in honor of the Kentucky Derby, to be raced later this afternoon.
This has to be the cutest paper I've ever seen and if you follow me on Instagram, you already saw it this morning. Of course, it's not a full sheet, I have used wrapping paper in my SMASH book before, that's what I intend to do with this. Also in the box were these seals, which I didn't even see when I picked it up first - my lucky day!!

More Christmas blow molds for us!! There was a snowman, candycanes and a Santa holding a reindeer, I think I should have bought that one - I've never seen it before! There are no lights in them but that's easy to fix!
This book is dated Xmas '61 - to Wendy Jane, from Aunt Susie, Aunt Susie even put a neat old sticker inside the cover.
I'm not going to turn down a piece of Butterprint, especially when it's one I don't have - it's the 471, 1 pint size - $2 - the only piece of Pyrex in the whole place!
I'm pleased with my finds today although I was sort of disappointed with the sale in the house, it was advertised as an elderly lady's home so I was hoping for something good, oh, well, the season is just starting!!! Hope you found something fun today too.
We went away for the weekend, of course, that involves checking out the local thrift and antique shops. I found some things and cute things they are!!!
This guy was on a 60% off table at an antique barn, I surely would never have purchased it at regular price but with the discount, it was a reasonable price. There are no markings on him, he's quite heavy and oh, so cute!!
It's sure great to be able to take pictures outside again, it was sunny and nice today but looks like rain for most of the week...
It was a planter weekend, I guess, I bought another one, no markings on this one either - I picked this one up at a thrift.
This is not something I very rarely look at, but this little pitcher took my eye, I picked it up and never put it back down - he was very reasonably priced at an antique shop. He's stamped "Japan"
I don't normally buy mugs either, but this one had an owl - and it's from Creemore China & Glass - Creemore, Ontario - Decorated in Canada! Mugs sure have increased in size, haven't they?
I actually bought a piece of Pyrex - I don't need all the different colors of these, I got rid of a couple and figured I would just keep the lime green ones, as that's what I have the most of - I paid $2.50 for this 024 at a Salvation Army - it's made in Canada. So, now I have a new lime green piece!!

I never find things like this at the Value Village around here - older Carlton cards, they were in the box, twelve cards of each - aren't they great?
It was perfect - I found two Vera scarves and a couple of other ones for resale.
I didn't thrift this giant Ball jar but I wanted to share it, I purchased it at Canadian Tire, after seeing someone with one, I had to have one for myself! It's a one gallon jar, I don't know what I'm going to put in it but I'll be filling it up with something! Love it!!
