It's Halloween Inside!

This year I've become lazy with my indoor Halloween decorating and why not, when I have this great corner shelf.   For those of you who have been following me for a while, you've seen my corner shelves before.  My husband made me two, actually, my new tulip bowl was photographed on my kitchen one just the other day.  Usually I place the Halloween decorations on various shelves, now I can decorate in one swoop -

Here's a closer view of the shelves... Notice my one lone vintage Halloween ornament, the little Lefton girl.

I put a few things on top of this cabinet too...

I've had this light up family of ghosts for a few years, I still like it!

Here's a little bit more..that's an Annalee doll on the post.

Mr. Creepy is a Jim Shore piece, my husband bought him for me a few years ago, he's so hard to place, his colors are just not the standard Halloween colors, he's awfully cute though.  I guess I shouldn't say I have only one vintage Halloween because I do have the blow mold!!

I even stuck something on the window.

Do you decorate inside for Halloween??

I'm joining in today with the link up at Wonderful at Home - check it out!

Easter and Yes, Christmas

I've sure had a run of fun mail lately, it used to be I got letters often, but those days are long gone, so any time there is anything in the box besides bills and flyers, it's good. It's especially nice when it comes from blogging friends.

When Ericaof Thrifting Sisters fame wrote me and said she found something at an estate sale that made her think of me, I had no idea what it could be.  It arrived last week - and here it is.....

It's an Annalee Santa - I discovered these Annalee figures last fall when we were coming home through New England.  I saw some old ones first at an antique shop, I didn't really look closely at them, sure wishing I would have, then the next day I was at a Home Goods store and there were shelves of them - Halloween and Christmas - I blogged about them here.   A Santa and a cute card - that's great mail, in my mind!  Thanks so much!

Only thing, now I have to pack him away until Christmas!

Holly is keeping me in bunting - she makes them herself - she sent me one a few weeks ago and now I have another one of her creations.  I am so lucky to have met such thoughtful people through my blog, I appreciate everyone that reads my posts, I almost always have a small response for you, if you are not a no comment blogger!  In the past few days, some new people have started to follow me - thank you so much!

Happy Easter from Holly..

She also sent me a couple of Little Golden Books for Easter - I didn't have these titles when I was little and my children didn't either...

This one is already in position, the illustrations are so cute, in both of the books.

Why are bunnies always the sweetest?

I have a few reds this week so I'm linking up with Rednesday.

Christmas in the Kitchen

There's not going to be a whole lot of writing right now- it takes less time to post pictures and if you're anything like me, you don't have time to read long blog posts these days.....  I'm linking up with Rednesday, I want to find time to read every post over there - I know there'll be lots of Christmas....  And, I imagine there'll be a lot of beautiful Christmas at Share Your Cup Thursday too.

Shiny Brites

I bought a couple of these at Home Sense this year - it runs by batteries, the interior colors change - red, blue, green

I was jealous of Carla's Stencil package - Carla blogged about her corner shelf too - and here you can see her stencil package.  I remember having these at home, not that I was ever allowed to spray the snow.....

I've had this tin for years but always used it for cookies, it moved above the cupboards this year.

Mom always kept her light fruitcake in this tin.

Another tin of Mom's - I have to use blocks of wood to raise up my items, you can't see them but you sure can in a picture - just to let you know, we're not looking at blocks of wood all over the place.

I found this tin last year

I like fruitcake but nobody else here in my family does.

This beautiful piece of holiday Pyrex sits on the kitchen table but the light is so much better for getting a good picture in the livingroom..

Erica sent me this sweet Annalee Christmas mouse - so cute  - thanks!

I found this great old candy tin the other week.  This tree belonged to my grandmother, I remember putting the little ornaments on it, sadly, they're not all here anymore, I've never seen one like this before.

Just some Christmas - the pine cone people were Mom's

I'm making good use of all my little dolls with hair this year!!

I had to include this pic of my Christmas glasses -my new ones on the left which I have found out are called Christmas Valley - the ones on the right I found last year - straight from North Pole, New York

Tree #2

Here's Tree #2  -   our tree is a mismatch of ornaments - old ones, new ones, family ones, gifts - just a little bit of everything and that's just the way I like it!!  I like a lot of ornaments on the tree - can you tell??  Click on the picture for a closer look.  I have one more tree to share with you yet....

I'd sure like to have more of these wooden beads, I've had them for a few years now - the last ones we found was a few years ago and we had to paint them to match the old ones.

That's one of my new shiny brites

We always had that type of bird on our tree at home

This is one you really need to click on - see the little gold tag on the top  - it says Vera, yes, it's a Vera Christmas ornament - my dear friend, Carol, who has been my penpal since we were young girls sent them to me - she's my fellow Vera collector!!  And, this isn't the only one, there was a whole box!

And, this week, Erica sent me an Annalee doll - how cute is she, with her little candycane dress?

Another one of my shiny brites from the boxes I found.

Those knee huggers are so cute - this is a newer one, I found four the same last year

Mom made these ornaments for Carla and Darcy when they were little

This Santa is made out of a starfish

This old ornament was in with the shiny brites, I don't think the lights are hot enough to make the inside spin

Carol sent these another year - with all our initials

I bought this tobaggan at Zellers a few years ago - I guess in the years to come I will be able to say I bought that there, as the store will be no more soon, I don't think I will have fond memories of Zellers, like I do of Eaton's

One of Mom's old honeycomb bells - you can see the Made in Japan sticker is still there

Carol sent me this cute snowman this year.

The top of the tree.
