Yesterday my husband and I went on a little road trip, no golf for him yesterday, I saw there were two estate sales in the city so we set out bright and early. I've said many times that we just don't see estate sales around here very often, but these were as close to it as we're going to get around here. He bought two items and so did I. When we were driving there, I said I wished I'd find some half decent lawn chairs - it was the first thing I saw.. I only wanted the chairs but it was a set of three, I think the lounger is not set up correctly, oh, well, I'm not going out to fix that in this heat! They're perfect, clean and comfortable, just what I wanted.
At the same sale, I bought this chalkware fish, well, actually, there were two, but they were all wrapped and taped, now I know why, the other one was glued together and chipped, I'm happy to get one out of it!!!
My husband can't resist these gameboards, for $2 - I guess not - it looks like it was never used! That's 199 games!!!! There's even pool cues!
He purchased at the other sale - $2 for this great old blowmold, I took this picture last night just as it was getting dark - it's so pretty and so different from the standard candles!
It was fun, we went to a few other places but this was all we bought!

We went on a little road trip on Saturday, I was hoping to find more than I did - like a different Christmas blow mold but I did come home with a Halloween one which I paid a whopping $1 for - it's a TPI blowmold from 1989.
My husband got ahead of me at Value Village, he makes his circle of the store way faster than me, he comes back and asks if I saw that Santa jug - no, I didn't even get to that section yet - so, he went back - what a great find - I have a few cups but no pitcher. I had this posted on Instagram, I knew once I posted it on there someone would know what it was, two other people shared their pitchers which were the same - apparently it's a Josef!!
I don't really think people have been donating very much at the thrifts in the line of vintage Christmas, maybe it's too early yet - I was at three shops yesterday, I bought nothing. I did buy a box of old ornaments last week, for fellow Canadians, the Eaton's tag is still on them, didn't they have the best Christmas displays and merchandise?
I've been on the lookout for Ideals books, they have the greatest pictures in them for SMASHing, especially the Christmas ones. I was happy to find "The Most Beautiful Tree in the World" but I should have checked it more carefully, two pages are missing, so that'll be going by way of the SMASH book. I always like to read a Christmas book at this time of the year, so this Awesome book will be the one!!

I'm finally getting around to getting the goods photographed that we bought on our trip now I can put everything away. We happened upon a few thrifts and stopped at a few antique markets, I think the Maumee Antique Mall in Ohio is clearly the biggest one we have ever been in - it is advertised as one of America's largest - over 2.75 acres/110,000 square feet - that's a lot of booths and a lot to look at - we were there for a few hours!!!
I was most excited about getting this blow mold cookie jar, I have been wanting one for a long time, my heart skipped a beat when I spotted one, sadly, when I looked at the price, it was way too much, I was so disappointed, but my disappointment turned to glee, I found one in another booth for half the price - finally, I have one!!!!
This cute ceramic Santa container has "Betts" on the bottom, I couldn't find anything similiar...have you seen one like this?
Staying on the Christmas theme - these were at a discount booth - as soon as I saw these, I knew I was buying them - made in Japan baby Christmas slippers - aren't they the sweetest?
I didn't find any Scotch tape dispensers, but I did find these Scotch containers - at different shops.
Don't laugh at me for buying this but I figured it was as close as I would probably ever get to a Lefton Miss Dainty cookie jar, even if it is missing the lid - it was on sale, I wonder why? Hah!! She doesn't look so bad without her cover, I think I would have had buyers remorse if I hadn't of purchased it. But, I would be interested in the lid, if anyone ever comes upon one!!
I bought these vintage cookbooks at a Goodwill, along with a couple of other things, including a Vera scarf, the bill was less than $3, everything I bought had a discount - that was my kind of store!!!
These books have the cutest illustrations - two are missing covers, good for SMASHing, I'd say!!
I also bought these paper place mats at the same shop, why, I don't really know, you know sometimes there are just things you think you need to buy - this was definitely one of them - I'm not out much, probably about 25 cents.
Of course, no trip is complete for me without a Vera or two - I did really well, I paid $6 for one scarf, the rest were all $2 or less - and then when I got home, I had a scarf waiting in the mailbox from Sir Thrift a Lot - once again, thank you so much, it was very kind for you to think of me!!
I went to a local charity yard sale on Friday, it was definitely not as good as other years, I came home with this one item, I can't believe it was sitting there with the tag and stickers still intact, in my mind, everything else there was junk - a Josef Original Christmas music box, I gave them $1 for it.
When my husband and I hit those antique markets, we start out together for the first couple of booths, then he goes his way, I go mine, he's always looking for different things for the game room - he found some great things..

He paid $5 for this set - only missing the green felt mat...the money looks like it was never used..
He is always looking at bagatelle games, but they are never reasonably priced - he has a wooden one which is really old, now he has a baseball one in the original box - and he got a discount on it, it's in perfect shape!!
It's so much fun to get away and pick up some neat things along the way, considering that the opportunities for such things seem to be lessening all the time around here! I went to an estate sale yesterday, which we very rarely ever see around here, bought nothing, it was no good at all, then I went on to a church sale, there were lots of older ladies manning the tables, but there was nothing good there either, I didn't buy a thing!!! Sales are just not great around here so far this year!!!

I'm back from my trip "home" to Prince Edward Island, we HAD to stay until Sunday as last weekend was the 70 Mile Yard Sale. It's a shopping frenzy, cars and people everywhere along the route, I found a few things, I don't think any item cost more than $1 - I have one regret and it is just plain stupidity on my part, I saw a turquoise Pyrex bowl, now, this was coming on the end of the day and we had been on the road since 8 - I should have looked on my phone to see the picture of what I had, I didn't even think of that, I know now that was the one bowl I needed to complete that set!!! Buyers remorse on that one!!
They were just setting up at our first stop - one item bought there and it's a cutie - the Lefton sticker is still on the bottom and it plays "Jingle Bells" - $1.
Another $1 spent on this blowmold - I saw some gigantic candy cane ones, but they were really too big - too big to drag back here and too big to store. As it is, we had to move some of our blowmolds to the attic!
The lady at this sale wanted me to take the whole box of Christmas, that would have been a complete waste, all I found were these two felt Santa's.
This little girl has lost her bell, but I don't care, these two little ornaments will look real cute on my red Christmas shelf. She was made in Japan.
I have a Tom and Jerry bowl and one cup, it's not the same as these cups, but I don't care about that either, I'll just use them for decoration anyway. These Hazel Atlas cups were 25 cents each!
That's it for Christmas purchases - onward to the rest of the things I bought. Our local grocery store when I was growing up was Lucky Dollar, I had to buy this ashtray - it's a good collectible. I bought the labels because they were local too, Fraser's Cannery was just across the water from my home and the canned chicken was so good!! We still have glasses like this at home, Schwartz mustard came in them, I have never seen one with a label, it was $1 too. Later on we saw a bigger Schwartz peanut butter glass, it was $10 - at a yard sale!!! That's not a yard sale price!!!
An old friend was having a sale - her mother used to sell Avon, she had a box of stuff left, still in the original boxes and not opened - and she had these, she gave them to me..Avon Calling....
This little bag of goodies only cost me $1 - I was taken with the little booklets. The Norcross Blue Book from 1951 - the lady that owned this was using it as a mini journal - she wrote down her household jobs - on Oct. 28, 1955 she washed the window sill, windows inside and out, complete. The Russels were for dinner, the menu consisted of - cranberry juice, mashed potatoes, carrots & peas, Swiss Steak, butterscotch rolls (which I've never heard of) and Pompadour Pudding, never heard of that one either. The mini coil booklet has trip expenses - the people were from New Jersey and drove to Florida - a few of their expenses were 21 cents for ice cream, postcards were 3 cents, $5 for overnight stay, $1 for repairs to car - it's pretty neat!
The last time I was home I passed these by at a local flea market, I sent my great aunt back for them, $2 - not bad for some vintage Fire King shakers, I had these on Instagram and somebody suggested using them for mini vases - great idea!
See this Rubbermaid container - it's full of stuff I brought back - things that were Mom's and a few things that belonged to my mother-in-law - I have lots to share, including a lot of Vera scarves! I'll be sharing this post with Thriftasaurus, Junkin Joe, Thursday Favorite Things , Vintage Thingie Thursday and Rednesday, because there's a fair amount of red in this post!
