This is All I Bought

My husband was on a business trip last week, I tagged along, I like when that happens!!!  I poke around  wherever I want - I checked out a few antique markets and a few thrift stores.   I know I don't buy much any more, but really, I expected at least a couple more little things!  I nearly had two Vera scarves, one scarf seemed familiar and it was priced at $5 so I wasn't taking the chance, the other scarf I had lined up to pay, there were about ten people ahead of me and one cashier open - not worth it for one scarf which wasn't even an exceptional one!

My purchases were both made at antique markets, not a thrift store purchase to be had, which is sad.  The vintage merchandise in these stores is just not there now, I am so glad I have what I do and found a lot of it for great prices.   And, there was one less store to shop at as all Ontario Goodwill shops closed last week.

I am always on the lookout for one of these Prince Edward Island pennants, finally, I have one..

I love vintage Valentines, the copyright on this Valentine book is 1980 so I guess we'll say it's vintage, as you can't buy these books now.    Some pages are punch out, some are to be cut out - it's so cute!  I plan to use some in my Pocket Letters.

I think the days of me having many thrifty find posts are coming to a screeching halt - but like I've said, I really need nothing.  I still like to look though!!

  1. Well, you might have noticed my posts about finds have come to a halt too. Nothing of interest to be had. Those valentines are really cute! And what a fun, colorful pennant. Glad you found something.

  2. 've noticed things are not as available as they use to be - at least at the good prices. Around here it seems to be going more to Estate Sales and they always seem to start out pretty high.

  3. I wish you could come down here and shop with me. I just have to be careful and be more selective since I don't sell things...just collect. There are more people shopping in the thrift stores here and there's always a line at the check out so you have to be patient. Love those sweet Valentines! xox

  4. So sad about Goodwill but another episode of a union causing an entire company to close down. I don't think any of us need more stuff but it sure is fun to hunt!

    1. You're so right, none of us need nothing at all! I used to think I might miss something at the theift, if I didn't go, I don't feel that way anymore, there is never anything there that I'm even interested in!

  5. I am definitely in the same boat with the thrift scores. Very few and far between. I don't go nearly as often as I used to because I got tired of feeling defeated every time I left the store! Where is all the good junk?!

Glad you got that pennant though. It's always fun to mark something off our lists, isn't it?

  6. Same thing in the UK , most of the good thrifts have shut , they can get £7 for a donated bag of clothes or shoes , so why bother to have a shop at all , theres a few church and animal charities trundling on, but most have gone over to laminate floors and big names and prices .

  8. That's a great PEI pennant. I remember seeing pennants on cottage walls or rumpus room walls as souvenirs of travels. I found a new vintage look valentine book last year but I forget where. I took it to my grandsons last February and they had fun with it but I brought it home with me and dug it out to do their valentine cards to send in the mail this week. They are true vintage style and so cute and even had envelopes to cut out. They aren't Star Wars but they'll do. LOL

  9. Your pennant looks in really good shape! Nice find! I did join postcrossings but haven't done any pocket letters yet. I think because of where I live, thrift stores are thriving. Florida is full of retirees who routinely go into nursing homes or bypass that...anyway whole homes of stuff have to be disposed of in a hurry. So the pickings are good here, but like you, I don't need anything so if something comes in something else must go out.

    1. You're probably right about the Florida thrift situation, Jeannie!

That's great that you joined Postcrossing, sometimes it's a long wait for that first card, but once you get going, so fun!!!

  10. I didn't realize they had closed all of our Goodwill stores! That's a shame. Well, you got some cute things anyway.
