We spent the afternoon yesterday at an auction here in Town - we have gone to auctions before and usually don't stay more than an hour or so, this one had a lot of good stuff, so we settled in. Items went for very reasonable prices, some of the merchandise was a steal, that's for sure, and some items didn't get a bid, you can't even give a tube tv away now... It was a fun afternoon and we ended up going out to eat for a bite to eat after, it was perfect!
This is on the other side. |
This was the first thing we won - it doesn't work but I wanted it! Love the graphics - I'm going to clean it up and it's going on a shelf! |
My husband goes for the games - this is a miniature croquet set - some pieces are missing but the ones that are here are so neat, look at those little mallets... |
Hear no Evil, See no Evil, Speak no Evil - not much to say about these guys but we thought they were kind of cute, in a funny sort of way! |
Of course, when you go to an auction, there is always something that you think you need and get a bit carried away in the excitement of the bidding - I think I feel that way about this box lot of linens - they're nice though, I will probably try to sell some. Lots of washing and ironing ahead of me here...Do you like auction sales? It's amazing to see the stuff that people are buying and some people bought so much.....Today I'm linking up with Share Your Cup Thursday, Thriftasaurus and Magpie Monday |
Great finds - I would love to go to an Auction as have never been.
ReplyDeleteNeato!
ReplyDeleteFun stuff! I haven't been to an auction in a few years. I miss the excitement of adding new treasures (hopefully, at reasonable prices) to my stash!
ReplyDeleteGreat purchases! I need to get myself to a auction. Except I would be worried I would be putting my hand up constantly.
ReplyDeleteYou might enjoy our Dutch auction experience that I posted on my October 23, 2012 Wetcreek Blog. www.wetcreek.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying following your blog, by the way.
There used to be an auction house in town and I went quite frequently. It was fun to get to know the "regulars." I love what you bought...especially the Romper Room toy!
ReplyDeleteI used to love going to estate auctions, but they've been a rare thing lately. Great finds!

ReplyDeleteFabulous! I love an auction.
ReplyDeleteWas it a specialist childhood one, or are these just the items you happened to buy? They are all great.
Sweet buys! Really love the game board, and the Romper Room clown is an amazing find. My guess is you'll be going to more auctions, right? :) Pam
ReplyDeleteSuch fun finds. I've yet to try an auction but it's on my list.
ReplyDeleteGreat and very interesting finds, especially the see no evil figures. I have never been to an auction but it's on my list of things to do in the near future. I'm scared that I will get carried away with the bidding though.

ReplyDeleteI' pleased I joined in with magpie monday this week and found your blog off to subscribe!
Looks like you scored big!! Auctions are my favorite way to build our inventory. All of your toys look like great finds. Vintage games are so much fun.
ReplyDeleteI always seem to come away from an auction with at least one "oops" and one thing I spent too much on. Unfortunately, sometime they're the same item! LOL!
Lovely finds. The box of linen is my favourite. I don'think I've ever been to a proper auction.
ReplyDeleteFun auction buys. I collect old toys including Chinese checkerboards.
ReplyDeleteSuper finds Jill! We have a Romper Room jack-in-the-box but the colours are different. We also have a metal Chinese checkers board. My brother had a drum like that too. I love these old toys.
ReplyDeleteI am just sorting thru a box of linens I didn't need. Pricing some for this weekends garage sale. That Romper Room jack in the box is great! We love going to auctions!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I love all of the vintage toys!! :)

Hi Jill, can you believe that I have never been to an auction? Really don't hear about them around here. Would love to go sometime. I love and collect tin toys. A few years ago one of my older sisters was down sizing and gave me all of her tin toys. I love them! She had some fun items. I love old games too. That mini croquet is too cute! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann

ReplyDeleteyou got soem great stuff! i love your colonel bank! a fried of mine found one at goodwill a few years ago and i was so jealous! the mini croquet set is TOO cute.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to an auction for YEARS! They don't happen too often in these parts.. I remember going with my gran when I was a kid, and then getting loads of 'retro' stuff at auctions when I was a teenager. Really, no-one wanted that stuff back then! I used to buy all the stuff that was left over for next to nothing!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the old tin toys you got there - so gorgeous.
I just read your 'about me'and I'm intrigued to see your Vera scarves collection- I don't know about those!i'm going to google her now!
Love your blog! Happy days!
Oh Jill, that looks like so much fun! I have never been to an auction. Love everything you got...especially the crazy game board with no instructions! :)
ReplyDeleteYou sure got alot of nice things ...I especially love the old toys. I'm going to have to look into auctions ...I think I have to travel about 2 hrs to get to one.... there just really isn't much around here so I check out etsy and ebay...
