Saturday Sales

The weather here hasn't been great all week and it's still pretty cool for outdoor yard sales, but today there was a church sale which I went to and also a sale inside of a house, which to many could be classed an an estate sale.  I bought nothing there, first off we were told to take off our shoes, that is pretty hard to police, I think. She says everything in the kitchen is for sale and a couple of other rooms, so I found a bunch of old cookbooks, she says those aren't for sale, well, why say everything is for sale if it's not!  I left, I didn't buy anything!!

The church sale wasn't as good as other years but I managed to get a few things, plus some magazines and a book for SMASHing.  I spotted a box of wrapping paper, a lot of it will be redonated, along with the bows - do you like looking at vintage wrapping paper?  Take a look at some of these neat ones, don't worry, I'm not showing every sheet I brought home.  The patterns are just too cute!!

This one is in honor of the Kentucky Derby, to be raced later this afternoon.

This has to be the cutest paper I've ever seen and if you follow me on Instagram, you already saw it this morning.  Of course, it's not a full sheet, I have used wrapping paper in my SMASH book before, that's what I intend to do with this.  Also in the box were these seals, which I didn't even see when I picked it up first - my lucky day!!

Looks like this Sparkle Dust has been around for a while...

There was a "free" table - I took a bunch of magazines and these...

Four Lournay Melmac bowls - I have four little side plates that we use all the time so I'm sure we'll use these too!!

Since my husband is away on a golfing weekend, I went further down the road to see what I could find - I went to a couple of thrifts and this was all I came out with.

Knee hugger heads that were still in the plastic wrap!!

I stopped in at this junk flea market - first thing I saw..

More Christmas blow molds for us!!  There was a snowman, candycanes and a Santa holding a reindeer, I think I should have bought that one - I've never seen it before!  There are no lights in them but that's easy to fix!

This book is dated Xmas '61 - to Wendy Jane, from Aunt Susie, Aunt Susie even put a neat old sticker inside the cover.

I'm not going to turn down a piece of  Butterprint, especially when it's one I don't have - it's the 471, 1 pint size - $2 - the only piece of Pyrex in the whole place!

I'm pleased with my finds today although I was sort of disappointed with the sale in the house, it was advertised as an elderly lady's home so I was hoping for something good, oh, well, the season is just starting!!!  Hope you found something fun today too.

The Charity Yard Sale

I went out to the yard sales this morning, which was a complete waste of time and gas - junk - and not good junk!!  But, yesterday there was a charity yard sale in Town and it turned out pretty good - nothing real exciting, but I filled up a box and donated $10 - so, not bad...

I'm not really sure about this Santa,  I don't think I'll be plugging him in  - I like the box though!

Everything was in boxes and bags so you really had to dig.  Mr. & Mrs. Claus were made in Japan.

Love to find a knee hugger, any time of the year!

Melmac - "Quality Dinnerware"

I very seldom ever buy any glassware like this, there was a box full, it looked nice so I picked up a couple of pieces, both are different patterns.  I don't know anything about glassware patterns....

You might see this one on a food post some day.

I bought this at Value Village the other day, it was $2.99, made in Japan. It's kind of like the pattern on the Pyrex Butterprint

My kids had this ball, I've been kicking myself about giving it away, now I've got one for those grandchildren I'll have some day..  A few weeks ago, I saw this ball in the showcase at VV, priced at $29, that's just how ridiculous their pricing has become.

There were boxes and boxes of books, I chose these old ones, mainly for SMASHing purposes - but I think that is all of these I'll be buying, I have more than enough. I was intrigued by the old interior covers on the Nancy Drew books.

I've never seen this one before

Or this one..

This is the one I remember, then after that it became white.  I sure loved my Nancy Drew books!!
