Books on Collectibles

If you love collectibles, there's a very good chance you're interested in the coffee table type of book that depicts just about anything vintage that you'd want to collect.

This is my stack - I probably could have taken a better picture, but their home is downstairs on the book shelf and I wasn't carrying all those up the stairs.  I love this type of book!  They're just fun to look at and great for quick reference.

This is my newest one to add to the collection - it was under the tree!  I haven't gone through the whole book yet, but I see lots of really neat pictures!

This book is just chock full of wonderful collectibles.

I wouldn't mind to come upon these spreaders - how cute are they?

While I'm on the topic of these books - how about the ones that are entirely Christmas?  I have a stack of those too.

Santa was real good to me this year - he brought me some new Christmas books..  I really wanted the Kitschmasland one, there's just so much vintage Christmas in there - I even saw some things that I have and a whole that that I want!!

Here's a couple of Christmas facts from "Christmas Memories" - popular toys of 1900 included sleds(98 cents), dolls (89 cents), doll cradles (10 cents) and ice skates (49 cents). In 1946, Noma's Bubble Lites were introduced - becoming the world's best selling Christmas tree decorations!   The aluminum Christmas tree was introduced in 1950 and we know those are collector's items now!  This is a great little book - full of facts and pictures.

I want that Santa, I want that mail bag and I wouldn't mind having a couple of those angels.  That's the trouble with these books, I always want stuff but I know there's not a  hope of me ever finding much of it, it's still fun to look and dream though!!  Do you like this type of book?

The Charity Yard Sale

I went out to the yard sales this morning, which was a complete waste of time and gas - junk - and not good junk!!  But, yesterday there was a charity yard sale in Town and it turned out pretty good - nothing real exciting, but I filled up a box and donated $10 - so, not bad...

I'm not really sure about this Santa,  I don't think I'll be plugging him in  - I like the box though!

Everything was in boxes and bags so you really had to dig.  Mr. & Mrs. Claus were made in Japan.

Love to find a knee hugger, any time of the year!

Melmac - "Quality Dinnerware"

I very seldom ever buy any glassware like this, there was a box full, it looked nice so I picked up a couple of pieces, both are different patterns.  I don't know anything about glassware patterns....

You might see this one on a food post some day.

I bought this at Value Village the other day, it was $2.99, made in Japan. It's kind of like the pattern on the Pyrex Butterprint

My kids had this ball, I've been kicking myself about giving it away, now I've got one for those grandchildren I'll have some day..  A few weeks ago, I saw this ball in the showcase at VV, priced at $29, that's just how ridiculous their pricing has become.

There were boxes and boxes of books, I chose these old ones, mainly for SMASHing purposes - but I think that is all of these I'll be buying, I have more than enough. I was intrigued by the old interior covers on the Nancy Drew books.

I've never seen this one before

Or this one..

This is the one I remember, then after that it became white.  I sure loved my Nancy Drew books!!

Do You Smash???

Do you Smash?  To some that may seem like a silly question, but others will know just what I'm referring  to - smashing - the act of sticking your cool stuff into this awesome book.   My friend, Sharon has wanted me to give it a try - I finally bought a book last week - there are different books and from what I hear, new ones have just come out.  I purchased mine at Michael's - I bought a kit which I thought was a great way to start out - because it came with the combo glue stick/pen, stickers, tabs and a bunch of other goodies.  Walmart also carries this size of album - I'm in Canada so choices are limited..  This could be addicting, now I've gone to Michael's twice to get in on their 70% off sale - some things were only 7 cents!!!!  Yes, 7 cents!!  Here is the site for K&C Company  - you can see and read what the Smash craze is all about.  There is even a Smashaholics group on Facebook - it's popular!

Some of my loot

Smash Red Doodle

My first Smash pages!!  In 2004 I was able to attend the Diana Dresses for Humanity Exhibit in Toronto - it was something I'll never forget - I purchased a set of cards that showed the dresses - the pink card on the left side is from that set.  I'm really pleased with how the pages turned out - for my first attempt, not bad - now, what will I start next - there is no limit on the possibilities.  It's really fun!

I'm linking up with Jann at Share Your Cup Thursday and A Favorite Thing, because this could be one of my favorite new things!
