Christmas and Halloween
On Friday I was on my way to the grocery store and saw a couple of yard sale signs, I pulled in and came away with some neat things. Yesterday I knew I shouldn't have gone out to the yard sales, because I just had a feeling they would be bad and I should be satisfied with what I found on Friday, I was right, most sales I drove by and didn't even get out. I did park right at the front of one, left the keys in the ignition, it took me a whole minute maybe to look at the goods, went back to the car and the doors were locked. How stupid was I? The window was down some, I was able to get my arm in but not far enough to get the lock, a young guy running the yard sale got it open on the first try with a hanger. I went home after that!!
Anyway, on to Friday - I found Shiny Brites at both sales that I went to, $2 for each box, there are made in USA ones and also a few from Poland, I've found some of those before, they are larger and so pretty. I'm hoping this year I'll have enough to make a Shiny Brite wreath - my collection is growing!
There was a little bit of everything - indents, satins, plastics and one poor little bird. He had a tail when he came home but that seems to have gone missing, he's not in very good shape.
This is my first Shiny Brite tree topper that I've ever found and in the box - it was included in the price of the decorations, $2. The original price is stamped on the side, 39 cents!
This is a cute pumpkin blow mold that would go anywhere...
I never look at plastics at yard sales but this Tupperware cereal container was sticking out of a box, it looks like it was never used. Mom used to have one of these, maybe it's still there, I wouldn't mind having another one, I put oatmeal in it, what a great container!! I used to have Tupperware years ago but this might be the only piece I have now!
I found some nice things on Friday, I really should have been satisfied and not gone out yesterday at all!
I try to respond to every comment, I appreciate every one, but for the bloggers out there that are no reply bloggers, I'd like to respond but because of your setting, I can't - I'm not ignoring you!!! It's an easy fix if you choose to go that way.
Oh I have Shiny Brite envy! Love seeing the original prices on the boxes.
ReplyDeletePretty! I love shiny bright ornies! I've been collecting them to make a wreath also. They are hiding in boxes and bags all over my craft room.
ReplyDeleteChris =]
I think I've mentioned to you that I love all the old Christmas goodies ~ you got them for a great price and I hope you do get to make that wreath, they are so pretty! Sorry about locking yourself out of your car ~ I actually did that once in my life, and I did it twice in one day!!!! I think I was pretty distracted LOL! Judi
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm TRYING not to be jealous! :)
I used to have Pyrex envy but that was fixed but now I still have shiny brite envy! Groan! Oh shiny brites, shiny brites where are you in Idaho!
I don't think people know they are no-reply. I didn't figure it out until someone told me!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you got some great finds. Too bad about the keys. Thank goodness you had the window down some! :)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE vintage Christmas bulbs... im obsessed!
ReplyDeleteLovely finds! Youre not doing to bad at the yard sales this year! :)
ReplyDeleteLove your shiny brites!! I have some that belonged to my mom and I've bought a very few here and there at thrifts, but I don't have near the collection you do!
ReplyDeleteYou did have some great finds!
ReplyDeleteJill, you found some pretty things! I love the bird and the tree topper. Glad you got back in your car ok. I went to one estate sale but it was cancelled when I got there, boooo.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until you make your wreath. Hanna, Maddie & I had a blast doing ours last year and they turned out so pretty. I've been hoarding red, white & blue ornaments too so I can make a patriotic one at some point.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you got back into your car. Totally sounds like something that would happen to me.

Those Christmas bulbs are fantastic! I love them!
ReplyDeleteLove your ornaments! Sorry to hear about being locked out of your car, however briefly. Sometimes when you just don't feel it, there is a good reason! (Yes, all my finds were at one store and there is more to come tomorrow)
ReplyDeleteYay for finding a topper! Booo for locking your keys in the car. I used to do that all the time. It became such an issue that I had to start this super hyper ritual of making sure I have my keys. Glad the guy was able to help you out!
ReplyDeleteLovely Shiny Brite!
ReplyDeleteThe Shiny Brites sure are special! I'm glad you didn't have to call someone to get back in your car. It makes me nervous to do something like that! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove the finds. NOW is the time to get crazy prepped for the Holidays, thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a score of shiny brites!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see if you make a wreath this year.
Be well
SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE! hugs...TFS!
