Scarves were Everywhere.....

My thrifting experience yesterday was probably one of the best I ever had, pretty close to finding the pink fridgie set which I blogged about here back in July, I thought that was pretty amazing, well, I had another day like that yesterday and it involved Vera scarves.  I still can't believe I came upon all these scarves......

This is one of my regular spots, isn't this a great mess - they just throw all the outerwear on these tables - it's full of wool scarves, mitts and hats, I haven't found any nice scarves there in a long time, I found one right off yesterday and then I noticed this bag in the lower corner, then a few more of these bags...

They were all over - the bags were not baggies, some were vacuum sealed.  I'm starting to get weak at this point, there are pretty scarves all over that I need to look at.  It was quite a task pushing everything out of the way, I think I must have been in there an hour. I looked across and here was a woman holding a bag, I stared at her for a while, willing her to put it down, she did, I grabbed it but it wasn't one I wanted.   Too bad!! I'd say that this was some old lady's scarf collection, I wonder if her family just cleaned out the drawer and donated them?  I was certainly in the right place at the very right time, I don't think many people had even looked at them yet.  I did leave a few behind though, I just hope I got all the good ones!

My arms were getting full, I found an Easter basket to carry them around in - there are 27 scarves in there!  I had no idea really how much they would be, I've never paid very much for scarves in there, but this really takes the cake - I paid 25 cents EACH!!!  Start the car and get me out of here......

I came out of there with 12 Vera Neumann scarves - actually I found the dark one earlier in the day at the SA - and it was only 50 cents.

This lady had some beautiful patterns

These two are a bit frayed on one edge, other than that, they are all in really good shape, I think some were never worn.

This one is my favourite!  This brings my collection up to 135 Vera's and yes, I do wear some of them.

I tried to take anything else that I thought would sell - 4 Echo scarves.  I listed eight scarves on Tuesday, already 32 people are watching them, I'm hoping for big things!!!

No signature on these, they're mod designs though , so they may sell

These appear to be hand made scarves by Lillian

An assortment of different brands, including an Oscar de la Renta

My only other purchase for the day!  Carla had this when she was little, a game that we gave away and shouldn't have - I've seen it a few times, I always tell her that I see it, why don't you buy it, she says, two weeks ago I saw it again, well, it was still at VV yesterday, so, now we have it!

Today I'm linking up with Thrfity Things Friday - it's Diann's 100th Thrifty Friday post - that's a lot!!  I'm also linking up with Share Your Cup Thursday - check out both of these great blogs.

  19. Truly the stuff dreams are made of!

Who among us hasn't had a dream of entering a thrift store & the item they collect most is so plentiful they are picking it up so fast they can barely carry it all?
