All Because of Barbie!!

Remember last week I did a Barbie post and my blogging buddy, Diane who pens Lydia's Post did one at the same time - all because we had the same Barbie dress.  It was fun setting it up and sharing our love of our vintage handmade Barbie clothes!    If you don't know what I'm talking about, here and here are our posts!

The Barbie love kept going this week - I received a package from Diane on Monday - it was a complete surprise and so appreciated!!  Blogging friends just have to be the most thoughtful out there, oh, and I must include Instagram friends too!!

Diane makes cards and does she do a nice job!!   Click on the picture and see just how cute they are!!

So, getting something like that in the mail meant I had to do a Barbie SMASH page...

Thanks, Diane - it was so generous of you!!!

Barbie's Pink Dress

One of my regular blogs to read is Lydia's Post, written by the lovely Diane - we both have many of the same interests and it's amazing the things that we both share a love of - well, now we share the same Barbie dress.  Diane has done a couple of  posts lately on her childhood Barbies's - Monday's post really caught my eye - there was a pink crocheted dress just like mine!  Amazed!!  What are the chances of that???

Diane and I decided to both do a post on Barbie's pink dress!   Diane's dress is a mini, and she has matching underpants!!   Head on over to Lydia's Post and check out that lovely pink mini!

My great aunt used to make all my Barbie clothes and I think my grandmother made a few too - I still remember getting a whole box of these hand made Barbie clothes one Christmas -what a gift!!   I blogged about my Barbie and some of these great clothes last year right here.

This is Diane's pattern - I couldn't believe it when I saw it, I knew I had some of these outfits and here they are....

A corduroy coat is always nice!

This gown is missing the top part

She must have had a lot of scrap corduroy on hand!

This jacket doesn't have the hood like in the pattern but it looks very similar

Party Time!!

Looks like I had everything on that pattern except the two piece suit.  These outfits are the cutest, I love the tiny snaps!!

I always like an excuse to get out the Barbie's - this has been such a fun post to put together and to share with my friend, Diane!!!  Make sure you head on over and check out all her Barbie fashions too!!!

My Favourite Posts from the Year

My favorite posts from the year are not necessarily my most popular ones but just ones that I like - it's amazing when you go back and check the stats and see what really was your most popular one for the year - for me it was Everything Cookies are so Good that I wrote about in October - I think I owe Pinterest on that one!!

So, here we go - starting off with January - we had just started making homemade egg rolls, it was worthy of a post, in February I joined in on the SMASHing craze with Do You SMASH? and in March it was all about Vera - Scarves were Everywhere -oh, that was a grand day, finding all those scarves!!!

In April I found some beautiful Red Haired Mermaids - Lefton ones to be exact.  I found the best brownie recipe in May - it's the only one I make now - you should try it too - right here.  In June, I blogged about my old Barbie and her clothes - Loved Barbie!

We went "home" at the end of June so I blogged about The Place I Come From when I got back in July.  It was hard to pick one post from August, but I chose $1 Spent Here, $1 Spent There - Pyrex was involved!  In September I wrote about Mom's Depression Glass - looking for help on identifying patterns and I got it!!

Carla came home for the weekend in October to SMASH - that was definitely my favourite post.  In November I highlighted my 1966 Woman's Day Magazine - that was a very popular post, it was a fun one to do too!  It wasn't easy making my December selection but I settled on This is Really Christmas Kitsch - I didn't like having to pack that beautiful piece away today!

It's been another great year of blogging for me - thrifty finds are not as plentiful as they used to be - but if there isn't anything to be found, there is always something in the wings waiting to be written about.  Thank you so much to all my followers - I know there are a lot of blogs out there to read, I appreciate that you stop by here to see what I've been up too and maybe leave a comment - comments make my day!!

Happy New Year - from 1935

Loved Barbie!!

I loved Barbies - did you?   I saved up and sent away to the Sears or Eaton's Christmas catalogue for mine - the Twist 'n Turn Barbie is the one I had and   still have , sadly, the bathingsuit is no longer around - I had one Barbie, Carla must have had fifteen, so, I think some of my Barbie pieces were mixed up with her friends Barbie collections... I have been wanting to do this post for months, finally, I am doing it today so I can pack all this stuff away again....

How about a little fashion show with my Barbie?  I had very few store bought outfits, my great aunt made most of Barbie's clothes - she had quite a wardrobe!!

My poor Barbie's feet are not in the best of condition, they're all twisted  and out of shape!  I wonder too if Carla gave her bangs a trim - her hair is a bit wild!!

Carla had the whole set of these Barbie cards - look what 1966 shows - my outfit!

One Christmas I got a set of wigs and hair pieces - this blondie is one of those - wearing another store bought outfit.  The dress had a sheer shawl but that seems to be missing too.

Isn't that little zipper the cutest?

This is a homemade set - perfect for travel!

Party time!!  How 60's is this?

Barbie even had a pair of Prince Edward Island tartan pants!

Evening wear for another party - this dress has a little top to go with it.

Barbie deserves the best - including a fur collar!

This is my Susy Goose Barbie closet - I was so proud of this, none of my friends had this, they all had the plastic Barbie bag - it's seen better days, it's missing a leg and one of the door hinges is broken, I played with this a lot and then Carla used it.

I had the Susy Goose Barbie bed too - it's gone!!

There's that Barbie head sitting in there - these are all pieces that I had with my Barbie.  I had so much fun playing Barbies with my friends, I remember having fashion shows at my birthday parties..  You know, it was kind of fun dressing her up again....

This is a wonderful book that I have about all things Barbie - I don't collect Barbies nor do I want to - I'm just happy to drag my one lone Barbie and all her finery out from time to time.

I'm linking Barbie up with Junkin Joe, Time Travel Thursday ,  Sunny Simple Monday and The Blog Post Office
