Eloise Wilkin and her Illustrations

Just about every time I go on Pinterest I see something that I remember from my childhood or that my children had - after seeing many many Golden Books that were illustrated by Eloise Wilkin - I wanted to get the containers out and see just what we did have -  her illustrations are just beautiful - especially the babies and toddlers.  I found five books that belonged to Carla and Darcy - back then I didn't take any stock of Eloise Wilkin - the books were just ones we liked.  The bottom one is a book of poems and not a Golden Book,   Mom and Dad gave it to Carla for her first Christmas in 1982.  The artwork is so unique - the inside pics are from "We Help Mommy", they just take you back to another time....  If you want to see more Golden Books and other great old children's books, I have a Pinterest board  - Beautiful Children's Books - I'm finding new ones every day....  And, because it's Rednesday, I'm linking up to Rednesday at Sue Loves Cherries - drop on over and visit Sue.  While you're browsing around - check out Vintage Thingie Thursday too - always a few interesting things to read about over there...

Aren't they just so cute?  Do you have any Eloise Wilkin  books at your home??

  5. I love all those little books. They do not make children's books like they use to way back in the day.

  6. I still have the Hansel & Gretel book that someone gave to me when I was younger. It terrified me! I passed it down to my daughter and everytime we go through her books to donate, she tries to get rid of this one because it scares her too:-) Although scary, it does bring back some wonderful memories. Thanks!

  7. Jill,
Her illistrations are lovely! I love children's books and pick them up when ever I find ones I like. I still have most of my children's books and am glad that I saved them! Will be having my first grandchild soon and can't wait to start sharing them!

  12. OH...You need Baby Dear also by Wilken. Have you ever seen Little Mommy. It's by Sharon Kane. They re-released it and it's available on Amazon. It's a must have if you like that style of art...

  13. What sweet illustrations! I'll have to look through my books and see if I have any Eloise Wilkin ones. I wish I had all my childhood books -- I saved only a few special ones.
    Lovely for Rednesday!

  14. Hi! Just wanted to say I love your blog! Ever since I found this post about the Eloise Wilkin Illustrated Golden Books, I just had to take a look through the stack I have. I Collect Little Golden Books, the older ones and I found one by her! Its called "A Childs Garden of Verses" and its the 1977 printing. Its in great condition. If you like I can send it to you? I don't mind helping out another thrifters collection!

  15. My children range in age from 8 to 13, and we all still love the Eloise Wilkin books. Since I shop at thrift stores they are all familiar with older books. We have many EW's, and among our favorites are My Goodnight Book and My Good Morning Book.
