Some Elves, an Angel, Some Shiny Brites........

I think I might be the only one in my family that is liking the elves - my 29 year old daughter isn't sure of them - that's pretty well guaranteed that she doesn't like them and my 23 year old son thinks they look evil!!  My husband doesn't seem to have an opinion one way or the other - but I like them -  I never had an elf before and now I've found five in a week.  These cute ones were $2.99 at Value Village.

The Christmas racks were full at VV yesterday - you just never know what you're going to find in those bags - there's a lot of junk but if you  look carefully there might be  something great - like these Mickey Mouse lights or some Shiny Brites -  two boxes of gold and one red box.    The lights were $1.99 and the tiny shiny brites were 99 cents for three boxes - the lights work and only one ornament is broken.    It's a miracle they are even in that good of shape, they were made in Japan so they're old and the way the bags fall off the racks at VV - it's just a shame to see the shattered ornaments on the floor.

I hope someday to have enough old vintage ornaments for a shelf - I have a way to go yet though! This angel has kind of a strange expression on her face, but she's still cute.  She has a made in Japan sticker on the cardboard base, I paid 79 cents for her at the Salvation Army.

I scooped these glasses up right away at the St. Vincent de Paul - the girl said they had just come in - lucky for me!!  The glasses came from North Pole, NY - Home of Santa's Workshop - they're frosted and just so nice - $2.  Does anybody know a website for identifying letters on glassware?  I've been on there before but can't find it now - there's a faint letter on the bottom of each glass.

I know there's going to be lots of great red Christmas posts over at Rednesday and just as many great treasures at Flea Market Finds - I'm going to check them out - you should too.....  And while  you're at it - check out Vintage Thingie Thursday.

  1. Well I love Elves, I only have one which is vintage--he sits in the metal Pick up at Christmas. Those glasses are fantastic--love them.

  2. I love the elves in comparison to that angel. She is the one who is evil! I do like the Disney lights and glasses, though!

  3. My daughter made the last comment- guess she likes the elves better than the angel. Hah!!

  4. I better get myself to a VV soon. Our tree is way too sparse as it is but I want to have it completely decorated with thrifty goods...

  5. Different spokes for different folks. I think they are cute, but thank goodness we do not have the same taste.

  6. Isn't this just the greatest time of year for finding red almost everywhere? Love your mischievous little elves!

A day without scarlet, they say,
    Can color the soul ashen-grey;
    For if there’s no red,
    The soul feels half-dead,
And has no incentive to play.

Red blossoms here, red buds here

  7. I adore the glasses and the elves but lots of people don't like them.

  8. Those elves ARE a bit creepy...but I think the angel has them beat!

  9. You found some great finds...your elves are so cute, but I think you and me may be in the same boat because my hubby and kids aren't that crazy about them :) I have some vintage ones that I found at a garage sale in recent years and some of them are so cute and I love displaying them, but I will admit to not using a few of them....because they didn't have cute faces lol! Enjoy your elves...they are cute :)
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
    Big hugs,

  10. What will you do with your army of elves?

  11. Oh how I love your new glasses! They are so cute! What a great price too. Our St. Vincent DePaul store is in downtown Buffalo, but I've gone there a few times in the last month and the prices are great! I think your elves are cute too. Fun stuff - thanks for sharing it with us.

  12. Oh you found some awesome vintage items. I love the elves and not sure Those glasses are really cool! Thanks for coming by my blog for a visit. Linda

  13. I'm not a fan of elves either, not sure why. i dont like gnomes either and I think theyre related! The angel is wonderful tho, and very, very similar to a carboard Japanese one I found recently!
